On to the rumors...
1).
It's said there is a bug in the game that allows
you to get Julian
before Irene.
The method is still unknown, and will be posted
here once the information is confirmed.
True!!
I've just tested it on my US copy and it works.
It's just a glitch, but no doubt a hot
information!! Here is the explanation on how you
can make this to work:
Once
Chapter Two starts, your party will be in the
Headquarters. After some dialogue, you must leave
the HQ. Press "Y" to make the camera
align correctly, so you can follow the directions
given here. So, go up the stairs, and stay near
the three to the right. Now, face the small wall
near you. Keep forcing Synbios' face
against the wall while turning the camera, until
he "enters the wall" and starts walking
"underground". Keep trying, it's very
easy to do!! Now, all you need to do is to guide Synbios through
the outside margins of the city, until he reaches
the gate. You may lose him of sight sometimes,
but the camera will help you to locate yourself.
Once you step outside the gate, you'll leave
Railhead without Irene and Julian will join
you!
You
may proceed in the game normally after this, but
you'll miss the battle at Railhead Cargo Room,
where you find the Healing Rain and Irene joins
you. If you go back to Railhead City and try to
save Irene, Julian will not
be in your group anymore.
Since
this is a glitch and not really a new strategy,
this info was not inserted on the guide. Serious
players will never want to lose Irene as a
party member, and you should consider doing this
just for the fun. Cool, isn't?
2).
It is possible to heal the Sacred Elbesem Statue
using the Healing Rain
or Grace's
Aura Level 4 (Grace
will need a lot of effort
to get this spell at this point of the game).
2).
False. Using the Healing
Rain, all them members of the force are
healed, but it has no effect on the Statue. The
same should apply to Grace's Aura
Level 4. This is truly a blow to those who
believed that could save the Statue someday. Sad,
but true.
3).
According to another Shining Force III guide, you
can give the Cut
Flower to the girl you
can push in Aspia (Chapter 4).
False.
Using the Cut Flower in the
girl has no effect. I've tested this with the US
version of Shining Force III: Scenario One, and
probably the same thing is going to happen in the
other versions.
4).
You can't make a Steel
Tiara using a Small
Mithril in the Smithy.
True.
You can't get a Steel Tiara made by
the Smithy. The only way to get this item on
Scenario One is bugging the item seller in
Malorie (beginning of Chapter 6).
5).
In the first battle of Chapter 4, there's a
central mountain that Eldar
can fly over and inspect. The fact is, she
inspects but nothing is found. This happened on
the US Shining Force III disc, so in the others
versions an item may be there, such as an weapon
or mithril stone.
False.
I've heard nothing is found in the UK or JP
versions of the game too (I can't confirm this
personally because I only own the US copy). Seems
like we just discovered another programming bug.
6).
In the Switching Point Battle, it is said that
you can have up to 5 characters to cross the
tracks if you place them correctly. These are: Synbios, Dantares, Masqurin
(!), Obright
and Julian.
This one seems to be really true, I just need the
placement startegy to confirm this... Anyone?
True.
Both Jason Walton and BladeMaster confirmed this,
and here are explanations on how they made it (I
didn't test this personally):
Here is BladeMaster's
extremely detailed guide to do this:
"Oh!
Listen to this. You wrote in your
guide that it's possible to get Masqurin across
the tracks towards the 'fugees in Battle 8,
right? I proved that it can happen.
If I had a camera with spare film, a
computer photo scanner, and know how, then I wish
that I could've shown you the photos of where to
step and all of that, but I can only tell you
about it. Here's how: Turn 1- get
Masqurin to the bottommost step to the right,
along with Dantares, Synbios, Julian, &
Obright. (my recommendations, not really
necessary, well, maybe Dantares) Turn 2- bring
Masqurin to the second to the right most step at
the bottom, while stepping Dantares to the spot
where the Destonian soldier to the right won't
attack him. (if this does happen then Masq won't
reach past the tracks because of the soldier
blocking her way) Turn 3- move Masq as far close
to the broken wood pieces on the track as
possible without having soldier get in her way.
Try to block the soldier off with Synbios,
Julian, (I equip him with Protect Ring and let
him take the hits that can cost Synbios his own
life) & Obright. Dantares should be
across the tracks by now and switching the
tracks. Turn 4- the train stops in front of
the broken wood space on the tracks; if
positioned correctly, Masqurin should be able to
walk across the tracks and stop on her only space
past the tracks! Phew! Made it!
Also, I found what I consider to be the safest
route to move the refugees past the soldiers.
Here's how: (I'll call the lead brown ref
& the other brown ref 1 & 2. I'll
call the orange hooded refs 3 & 4, and
lastly, little kid ref is 5. They're
refered to their front-back order at Turn 1.)
Move 1, 2, & 3 across the dark grass, while
splitting up 4 & 5 on the other sides of
rocks, next to the fence. Continue moving
1, 2, & 3 forward and closer to the next set
of rocks, while moving 4 & 5 closer to the
group. 1 should be past a rock, with 2, 3,
& 4 trailing behind, and 5 next to 4 on that
space by the rocks. Next turn, put 1 on the
left side of the fence gap; have the rest behind
1 and try to keep them close to the fence as
well. 1 can now cross the tracks to the
leftmost space. From left to right put 5,
4, & 3 on the gap, and have 2 right behind 3.
By now, Dantares should've already switched
the tracks and already caught the attention of
the Destonian Soldier and the 2 Snipers, with his
own backup of Synbios, Julian, & Obright.
(Masqurin optional, better to have her with
the others so that there is equal distribution of
power on both sides of the battle.) Now
move 2, 3, 4, & 5 across the tracks and
grouping with 1; Your 4 men should be
destroying the enemies to the right. The
soldiers will get near the tracks, but they most
likely will not cross and attack the refugees,
probably because of the presence of the 4
fighters, they'd rather attack when you're not
looking.
Hope this helps out."
And here are Jason
Walton's hints:
"I can write
a few things though at this time, just without
character placement specifics. First off,
the key to victory lies in Dantares'
agility. It must be faster than the
Destonian Soldiers. If it isn't, then the
player needs to get the Gale Ring hidden in that
rock on the otherside of the tracks, and then
cast Return and restart the battle. The
reason Dantares must be faster, is because he is
a distraction for the Destonian Soldiers, who
will rush to attack Dantares just before the
refugees cross the tracks. If the soldier
moves before he does, then the soldier will rush
towards the civilians and slaughter them.
The two archers that are with the soldier, follow
that soldier, so if the soldier goes after
Dantares, so will the archers. And
likewise, if he goes after the refugees, so will
the archers.
That's about all
I can say for now, until I give specifics on
character placement. I'd basically do
something like "Move Masqurin, 2 spaces
right, and 3 spaces down". "
7).
Gracia,
the Holy Child, is supossed to be inside the
locked 2-floor house in Railhead City.
Not
confirmed yet.
8).
It may be possible to open the locked treasure
chests in Aspia Castle (Chapter Four).
Not
confirmed yet.
Can
you confirm any rumor? Please e-mail me.
