Here you can find the Smithy again, so it's a nice time to get Mithril equipment made. Looking around the town you can find the following items: - 2000 gold coins - shelf in birdmen's house. In the item shop, bug the girl until she sell you a Dark Bowl (5000 gold coins), a Steel Tiara (7000 gold coins) and an Ibiru Ring. To proceed in the game, go to the gate near the church and talk to the guard. Answer him "No", "Yes" and "Yes". Prepare for the next battle soon.
Break all the barrels during battle to unblock passages and get the following items: - Brave Apple - break barrel near the starting
point of your party. Enemies:
Once the battle ends you'll be able to enter the small room, but only if you broke the barrels blocking the door during battle. Exploring the room you can find a Dark Matter, a Macho Maul, and the Ultra Lance inside the treasure chests. The rest of the castle will be acessible too, find the following items: - 3000 gold coins - shelf upstairs. Once you're done, you must go to the garden of the gastle (where you fought the last battle) and go out using the door to the left. Duke Palsis will ask Synbios if he's ready, answer "Yes".
Here you must face Braff's troops: a very hard battle. Plan your attack carefully! TIP: I generally advance to the left. There, you can keep you party hidden on the bushes: the 30% bonus on defense due to Land Effect will be a great help. Keep everyone together, and don't care about being hit by some Blaze LV3 spells: have Irene or Murasame to cast Resist and Grace ready to cast Aura to avoid problems. That's better than having someone dead at Braff's Phoenix LV2 summon spell. Once all the enemies try to attack you, they may end up in a nice position to be hit by spells, and that's your chance to wipe a lot of them. It's a nice idea to kill them before attacking Braff. Enemies:
Once the battle ends, Braff will leave the Statue Gem in the ground. Get it and use on the statue in Aspia's outer wall, that will open a secret passage to Aspia Catacombs.
Entering Aspia Catacombs, you can see a locked door. It can't be opened on this Scenario, I suppose. Just follow the corridor to enter your next battle.
In this battle you'll meet Basanda and Spiriel. Also, the last Ruins of Scenario One can be explored now: note that you won't enter using the same door as the Thief. He'll use the door near Basanda and lock it, so you should use the open door to the right. Spiriel is
possessed by some kind of Bulzome magic. Do not kill her
if you want her to join you in Scenario 3! Instead, use a
Sleep spell or just ignore her, and kill Basanda. Some people say you should use
the Elbesem
Orb on Spiriel, but I
don't know if this is a mandatory condition since it has
no apparent effect on battle.
*Remember to do not kill Spiriel if you want her to join you in Scenario 3! Enemies inside Ruins:
*Let the thief unlock the chests, then hit him to get the item. Items to be found in the tomb: - Dark Matter - inside treasure chest.
The beautiful general Spiriel will be standing in the main room if you didn't kill her. She is no longer possessed and you can talk to her, but once you leave she won't be there anymore. To proceed in the game, follow the path Basanda was blocking and turn to the left. Talk to the guards, then continue walking until Fynnding comes and talk to you. He advices you to go to Malorie Castle and talk to Lord Tristus and Lady Margaret. Exit Aspia Catacombs from the way you entered and go to Malorie. Note: you can enter the Ancient Holy Palace already if you want and fight the Hero's Test. However, I advice you leave this to do later.
You may have noticed that the gates of Malorie city are now open. Also, the weapon merchant is back in business, so you can buy some weapons. Remember to bug him to get a Giant Cestus (11000 gold coins) and a Magnum Bow (15000 gold coins). Talk to the item seller from the wrong side of the counter ans she'll give you a Healing Rain for free. After you're done, go to Malorie Castle.
Leave the castle and go to the city. You can hire mercenaries in the bar to help you to fight the Colossus, and get more Mithril weapons made in the Smithy. Once you're prepared, leave Malorie and go to Aspia Catacombs again (use the Statue Gem in the Statue at Aspia's Wall). Prepare for the ultimate battles of this scenario!
Here you can choose what to do next... You may enter the "Hero's Test", an optional battle to train your characters and build their levels, get more gold and extra items. To that, enter the Ancient Holy Palace (door to the right, near the sign in the wall). This is highly recommended. However, if you want to fight the Colossus immediately, go straight and Fynnding will give you the final advices for the battle. (please skip the "Hero's Test" section in the Walkthrough).
The
Hero's Test is optional, and is composed by four battles,
that must be beaten consecutively. That means if you cast
Return or use an Angel Wing, you must fight all the battles again.
Your characters' HPs, MPs and abnormal status will be
restored at the end of each battle. Prepare yourself... Hero's
Test Battle One: Enemies:
*Appear during battle. Hero's
Test Battle Two: Enemies:
*Appear during battle. Hero's
Test Battle Three: - Large Mithril - inspect the first pillar to the
right. Enemies:
*Appear during battle. Hero's
Test Battle Four: Items to be found on this arena: - Large Mithril - inspect the first pillar to the
left. Enemies:
*The Skull
Mage has 1000 HP and recovers 15 MP per turn. End of Hero's Test: You'll be able to open
the treasure chest that was guarded by the Skull Mage. The Tiamat Rod is the grand prize for this victory.
Congratulations!
Before entering the
last battles in this Scenario, make sure you remove all
of your important items of the HQ, and give them to your
characters to carry. That's because you'll be unable to
access it in other Scenarios, meaning you'll lose
everything it's there! Watch out!
This battle is very special for the following reasons: it has two battlefields and all of your characters must fight it. The main team (leaded by Synbios) will be in the bridge of Aspia Castle, and the reserve team (leaded by Fynnding) in the dam. You don't need to attack the Colossus, he's not the boss. Move the Bridge Team near to the castle doors, and resist to Colossus' atacks the maximum possible. To win this battle, you must kill the Giga Breaker with the Dam Team and release the water to take out the Colossus. Once you made it, you'll have one single turn to move the Bridge Team to a secure position, that's exactly near the castle doors. The Colossus can't be killed. Each 1000 HP taken out of him will make one of his arms fall. Once both arms have fallen, he can't be damaged anymore. Enemies of the Bridge Team:
*Appear
more during battle. Enemies of the Dam Team:
Prince Arrawnt will exit from Aspia Castle after Synbios' forces manage to defeat the Colossus. Now you must face him, this is the final battle. Note that if you cast Return on the Final Battle you must fight the Colossus Battle again, so you shouldn't retreat. Arrawnt has 600 HP and is able to use this Spark Blade for a Spark LV3 spell. Your victory will be easier if you kill the mages behind him and use some defensive spells. Good luck! Enemies on the Final Battle:
*Appear during battle.
Congratulations!! You have finished Shining Force III Scenario One!! I won't spoil the ending sequence here, just watch it and prepare to play the next Scenarios. Your adventure was just starting...
