The night falls, your party starts in the Headquarters. After some dialogue about the cursed village, you will notice that Julian is missing. Worried, King Benetram ask Synbios and Grace to go outside to investigate and find him. Some strange things happen to Synbios and Grace in their walk around the village. Explore the houses to find: - 30 gold coins - shelf behind
counter in the shop. Get the
items and cross the small bridge to reach the cemetery.
Try to enter the mansion, then try to leave the cemetery:
you'll meet Julian and Kahn, an Elbesem Monk. Some Kyon-shis will appear, it
is your next battle.
In this battle, Kahn will be helping you, but he is computer controlled. The Kyon-shis are, in truth, the people of Quonus being controlled by an evil power. Let Kahn use the Elbesem Orb in the Kyon-shis to uncurse them. Noon, the Wizard, is actually one of the Kyon-Shi, and will only join your group (later in the game) if you don't kill him. You must uncurse him with the Elbesem Orb. Since all the Kyon-Shi are identical, nobody really knows which of them is Noon. So, the best way to get him in your party is to DO NOT kill any of the Kyon-Shi. Another reason you shouldn't kill the Kyon-Shi is because they're the people of Quonus! So, when you go back to town after Battle #12, you'll not be able to chat, buy/sell items, etc. Hint #1: Kahn's artificial intelligence tell him to follow Synbios. Then, make Synbios stay near the Kyon-shi, so Kahn will come to stay near him and use the Elbesem Orb on the people. Hint #2: Have Irene to stay away from the Kyon-shis because she can counter them quite oftenly, and may accidentally kill one. Be sure also to have most characters away from Irene if they're her friends, since her support is Counter, making them counter attack the Kyon-shi as well. Enemies:
* All these will appear during battle,
exiting from the graves.
You may notice that the left gate of the
cemetery is closed now, but it's possible to open it
after the Mansion battle. Prepare yourself, and enter the
mansion...
Enemies:
*Appear
during battle. Remember to break all the barrels on the first floor to enter the door after the battle. The boss will appear in a small room in the second floor (behind him, you can find a Dark Matter in the floor, but you can get it after the battle. To damage the boss you must use Kahn's Elbesem Orb on him first, in order to break his magic barrier. He regains 20 HP per turn and the battle is long (very nice to build your characters levels).
If you broke the barrels during the battle, the kitchen is now acessible in the first floor. Ever noticed the bats that appeared? Cool, but I think there's nothing to do about them. You can find those items in the mansion: - Black Ring - inside treasure chest in the
kitchen. In a room in the first floor, push the switch, then a goblin called Ratchet will appear and ask you if you're a new servant of the Vandal. You should answer "No", then he will figure out you defeated the Vandal, and run away. He is a Steam Knight, and joins your party later in the game. Now you can leave the mansion.
Note that the side gate of the cemetery is now opened. Enter it and cross the brige, then enter the Mill. Push the switch to get a Brain Food inside a chest. You can buy new equipment in the village if you didn't kill the sellers when they were Kyon-Shis. There are special items to buy too, like the Bronze Rod (deals section on the weapon shop), the Power Undies (bug the item merchant until she sell it to you) and a Goddess Tear (bug the acessory merchant). If you made all this,
you're done here. Leave the village to proceed in the
game.
This battle is a particular one: Spiriel (possessed by some kind of Bulzome magic) will appear and "help" you. She heads to the Elbesem Statue in Barrand to destroy it, and her troop of White Lords will take down some of Franz's units, since they're on her way. During the battle, you can find a Large Mithril hidden in the ground (inspect the path to the north, it's near the first group of enemies). The cursor points the exact location on this screenshot. Franz's Troops:
*Appear during battle. Spiriel's forces, that appear during battle (you won't have to fight them):
Spiriel, Lich and Succubus will escape before you can reach them, whatever you do. However, you may want to fight the White Lords to get experience points. If you have some of your characters to block the brigde, they'll attack you so you can defeat them. The boss is a weak foe. Just watch out for his Dominion Ray special, it causes heavy damage and Illusion. After the battle, Dantares will ask you if you wanna rest a
bit in Vagabond. Answer "Yes" to enter the
nomad town, and "No" to go directly fight
Spiriel. I strongly recommend you to visit Vagabond
before, so you should answer "Yes".
Lots of things to do here. In the shop tent, you can buy a Magic Wand (acquire Sleep magic) in the deals section with weapon merchant. You can find also the following items around the town: - Health Bread - inside barrel outside. Talk to the old woman and answer "No" to her first question. Now answer "Yes" to buy the Large Egg for 100 gold coins and use it on the hen in headquarters. It will hatch and Penn the Penguin will be born. He will join you later in the game. You can also talk to Ratchet, if you want him to join later too.
Enemies:
Enemies inside the tomb:
* Let the Thief open the locked chests and get the items. Then, go after him and attack... Items in the tomb: - Healing Drop - break a barrel.
The Guardian Statue is broken, so the Demon Gate is no longer sealed. Bulzome's awakening is just a question of time now. Basanda will come and capture Spiriel, to continue using her as a puppet under effect of Bulzome magic. The strongest of the Vandals, Galm, appears here and Julian tries to attack him. Galm just levitates him and throws the boy into the water! Bye Julian... meet you in another Scenario. Note: It is impossible to avoid these events. And before going to the bridge, inspect the broken Statue to get an extra Goddess Tear.
Wow... amazing
visuals. Here you must defeat Garzel. Edmund betrays the republic, and
send his troops to attack you once you advance in battle.
Hopefully, Medion's army appears and give Synbios a great help.
*Appear during battle. Items you can get during this battle: - Large Mithril - inspect a rock in your way to
the bridge.
"The Vandal was a strong opponent, but Synbios brought back life to Quonus
Village by defeating it. They then defeated General Franz
and finally escaped Imperial territory. They defeat the
Spiriel army who destroyed the Guardian Statue of
Barrand, and were close to Republican territory, but two
powerful generals, Edmund and Garzel, stood in their way.
With the aid of Medion at the railroad switch, a newfound
trust was born, and the alliance formed by that trust
helped defeat the two powerful generals."
