Gallery Description: Images from
the Official Artbook and information about the Word Map
and Saraband City. Special thanks to Jason Walton for allowing me to
use them in this site, as well as information from his
Shining Force III Compendium.
The
floating city of Saraband features modern technology and
is a rich merchant town. Their mobility and being a
neutral province makes them unique in the world of
Shining Force III.

This image shows sketches for
Saraband. Apparently, the city changed a bit
during game development, but most of its features
and chatacteristics were kept, specially its
shape. Interesting to note in this
prototype is Saraband's weaponry. The trees and
grass could rotate and reveal powerful defense
equipment, as well as some false houses in
strategical positions! In the game, however,
Saraband's cool battle system seems to be unused
or inexistent.

Saraband's final design is this
one: divided into four main districts. The top
center is Business District, where shops are
located and the trading is done. The east side is
the Eastern District, also called Republican
District during the peace conference. Same goes
to west side: it's the Western District, also
called as Imperial District during the
conference.
Finally,
the bottom center area is the Government
District. There, the actual peace conversations
take place and Saraband leaders and Governor
General Garvin reside.

of the Shining Force III world map, Eastern
Parmecia. This image is not exactly as it is
on the Artbook, let me explain: there's a mistake
where West
and East are in the proper positions on the
compass, but North and South aren't. So, Jason
fixed it using Photoshop and the scan has not the
same mistake as the book.
